Darcy & Flo was founded by Angela who designs and makes quirky, bright, affectionate and collectable individually made cloth dolls.
Angela learnt to sew as a child with her mother on her mother’s old Singer sewing machine. Angela remembers the beautiful fabrics her mother used making clothes for her as she grew up. Ever since, she has always been inspired by different colour combinations of fabrics and trimmings and has created many beautiful pieces of her own.
It was holidaying in Cornwall each year as a child that Angela’s love of cloth dolls was born. Each year her mother and father would treat her to a cloth doll. Angela can remember the excitement and anticipation of the new and different fabric and hair colour combinations of the dolls in the shop, waiting to be given a new home. She still keeps her collection of childhood cloth dolls.
About the dolls…
Today, Angela designs and creates cloth dolls for a new generation using a combination of hand sewing and machine stitching. Her inspiration starts with her extensive stash of new and vintage fabrics. The felt hair follows and then the trimmings and buttons are all lovingly joined together. Finally, each face is hand embroidered.
Each doll has a calico body with dress and legs made from 100% cotton, and felt hair embellished with lace ribbon and buttons to match the decoration at her ankles. The dolls are filled with 100% Polyester Hollow Fibre Filling.
The dolls are not suitable for children under 3 years of age due to small parts.
Each doll is waiting to be given a new and loving home. See the Dolls here.
